Recent Executive Orders from the President of the United States aim to protect female athletes from competing against male athletes and to eliminate Critical Race Theory (CRT) and other divisive content from school curriculum.

On March 3, 2025, the impact of these orders on Anoka-Hennepin schools was discussed at a work session. The board learned the district’s position is that these executive orders will be challenged in court as they apply to Minnesota, and no changes will be made to district policies at this time.
School Board members Zach Arco, Matt Audette, and Linda Hoekman expressed disappointment that Anoka-Hennepin would not take a leadership role in addressing the issues raised by the Executive Orders, particularly those not explicitly covered by Minnesota statutes. However, the Board was unable to reach a majority vote in support of pushing for changes.
